  • Private Guitar Lessons with Stoyan

    Stoyan Ganev is a versatile musician with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies, specializing in bass guitar and double bass. He has taught guitar and bass at institutions such as the Ottawa School of Music and has extensive teaching experience in Las Vegas. In 2013, he was a top 5 finalist in the CBC Searchlight competition for composition, showcasing his creative talents. Stoyan has also worked as a session musician, film composer, and performer at international jazz festivals. He now focuses on teaching beginner and intermediate guitar students, blending his global performance experience with a passion for teaching.

    Class offered in English only. Students are required to bring their own guitar and purchase the following lesson book: Hal Leonard Guitar Book

  • Private Violin or Piano lessons with Jenna

    This class is a great way to explore the violin for the first time!  The private classes are designed to build your skills methodically in a relaxed, enjoyable, and encouraging atmosphere. By the end of the  course, students will be able to identify the parts of the instrument, how to properly hold the instrument, and be able to play some introductory pieces. 

    Students must provide their own violin. These can be purchased or rented through The Sound Post for an additional fee. All other course materials are included in the fee.

    Jenna O'Connor has been teaching violin lessons to children and adults since 2002. She is patient, enthusiastic and has a wealth of teaching experience. Her goal is to develop autonomous learners with good violin technique who play with ease and beautiful tone. Mrs. O'Connor engages young students through games and musical activities.

    Prior to moving to Ottawa, Mrs. O'Connor taught violin at the Orpheus Academy of Music in Austin, TX, and at the Vancouver Academy of Music in Vancouver, BC. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Music degree in Music Education with an emphasis on Suzuki Pedagogy from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Mrs. O'Connor is a fully certified Suzuki violin teacher and is committed to life-long professional development.
